Yours, Mine, and Ours

Last night I sat down to watch this movie thinking that it would just not be that exciting. But, nonetheless, I decided to give in and take a chance and boy am I glad that I did. It was great. It had it’s moments that make you just want to scream with laughter and then it has it’s moments were you want to grab a tissue. All in all, it was a great movie.

Originally made in 1968 with Lucille Ball as Helen North Beardsley, widow and mother of 10 children and Henry Fonda as Frank Beardsley, a widower himself with 8 children of his own.

Fast forward to to November 2008 and the new movie has Dennis Quaid as the widowed Coast Guard Admiral and Rene Russo as the widow handbag designer. Originally these two were high school sweethearts and went their separate ways. They have each had their families and each are in control differently. The Admiral is stern and to the point with his kids while Helen is a little more loose; believing that there is a peaceful resolution to all issues.

With that, they rush off and fall in love all over again and get married quickly. The chore is simply to find a house that will accommodate all 20 and the in-house “nanny”. This is where the family of chaos meets the family of structure and discipline. Mom and Dad love each other and kids hate each other. That is when the kids decide to have their own devious plans. Do the math. Grab the movie today and let the laughs begin.
