The Family Stone

Monday night did not offer much to watch and I had came across The Family Stone and decided that I would take this movie in. Now, if I have to group this in genre, I would have to say it is a romance/comedy/drama and you better be ready for all three of them. And make sure that you have tissues close at hand because you will need some.

The movie offers Diane Keaton as Sybil Stone, the mother and she does an fabulous job in this role. Craig T. Nelson also plays the father and does a great job in his role too. There are many stars in this and instead of me going through and naming all of them, let me give you the breakdown of the movie.

You have a very uptight, conservative, self centered business woman that decides to go home with her boyfriend to celebrate Christmas with his eccentric and outgoing family. Now, there are twist and turns in this movie that take you from comedy to romance to drama to almost a point of crying.

When I sat out to watch the movie, I thought that I would just watch it till I feel asleep, but that did not happen. I was quickly drawn in by this movie and enjoyed it very much. I would say that it is a must see by all, especially family.

Glad you liked it — I did too. That’s me quoted on the back of the DVD box (attributed to Houston Chronicle, but it was my review). An underrated film.

Bruce, I have to agree that it was underrated.
