First off I have to say that I have not laughed this hard in a while. This money has it’s points. For the most it is more oddball humor and silly acting than anything else. But it will make you laugh and that is what a comedy should do. I am glad that I took the time to watch this.
The movie stars Dan Fogler as once herald ping pong star Randy Daytona. Christopher Walken plays the sinister villian Feng who is obessed with ping pong and invites the best to his secret compound each year for a tournament when you play a sudden death tournament. George Lopez is FBI agent Rodriquez assigned to track down Feng and finally bring him to justice. Maggie Q plays Maggie and is the love interest of Randy’s. She is also the daughter of Randy’s mentor Wong who is played by James Hong.
The movie begins at the 1988 Olympics where 12 year old Randy Daytona is playing against Karl Wolfschtagg and when he sees his father being taken away by henchmen, he gets nevorous and Karl takes advantage. He hits a smash that Randy runs backwards to get only to fall and hit his head and ends the match and his chance at gold.
Fast forward 19 years in the future where 31 year old Randy is working in a casino as a ping pong entertainer. This is where Randy’s life becomes interesting. He accidentially causes one of the guest to have a heart attack and dies right there. The owner is furious and fires him on the spot. That is when Rodriquez approaches Randy to get him to help capture Feng. From there, the laughs have just begun.
