This movie was released on April 16, 2003 and is based on the true story of serial killer John Wayne Gacy. John was much more than a serial killer though. He was a model citizen, a loving husband, and a gracious father. However, he had a dark secret that he kept buried; literally buried under the crawl space in his home. He had placed the bodies of 30 men and boys that he had lured and killed.
The events of Gacy’s live unfolds on the screen, but for those of you that have read stories about Gacy, you will notice some twist in the movie that are not in the other writings. As for which variation is correct, it is not what makes the movie. If you are into movies that are based on true stories, then this is one that you have to view. I have to warn you though. John was a very sick man that could not come to grips with his sexuality. Some same that it was caused by his father forcing him to have sex with him at an early age, but I can not find that being documented.
Most of the people that Gacy went after were guys that worked for him. He would lured them with a job offerings for his construction company, pool table at home, smoke a joint, or whatever he could come up with for the moment. One of John’s victims was let go by him after days of torturing and sexually raping the boy. He was left fully clothed in the park. He reported the incident to the police to no avail.
As with most killers, Gacy was caught because he screwed up. He could not control his urges and they got the best of him. Once Gacy was arrested, it did not take long to find the bodies. All they had to do was follow the smell.
John is played by Mark Holton. It als has Adam Baldwin, Tom Waldman, Charlie Weber, Allison Lange, and Edith Jefferson to name a few.
