The Condemned

Before I get into this movie I have to tell you that it is very graphic in the fact that there is murder, rape, brutal beatings, and graphics that will turn your stomach and this is all in the name of ratings for a wealthy television producer named Ian Breckel (played by Robert Mammone). Breckel is prodcuing a live streaming video over theĀ  Internet of the fight that is set to last 30 hours.

He has bought 10 people off death row from different countries. Each of them are killers and have tempers to match. One of the killers is Jack Conrad (played by Steve Austin). It is later discovered, from a tip received by the FBI from one of Jack’s classmates from his high school days, that his real name is jack Riley. While digging into Jack’s background, the FBI strikes a nerve with Pentagon brass who put a stop to the FBI’s efforts to find the island where this “game” is taking place. Finally the brass divulge that Jack was a “Black Ops” operative that was sent to El Salvador to bomb a building that was controlled by drug lords. When he was captured, they left him for dead. Jack’s girlfriend at the time was left to believe that he just walked out on them.

Prior to the fight, all the fighters are fitted with a bomb on their ankle that has 3 ways to explode. The first is for the 30 hours to expire. The second is to have the red card pulled out of it. And the third and last is for someone to tamper with it trying to get it off. If it blows, it kills you instantly.

All 10 are dropped at different locations in a jungle. When the killings start, it gets brutal. In one portion of it, one of the fighters rapes the wife of another as he brutally beats her. When he is done, it is believed that he pulls her red card, but that is unclear. Later in the movie, they also brutally beat the husband whose knee they had already broke in a prior attack.

When the fight does not go like Breckel wants, he intervenes by dropping bags in the jungle to give unfair advantages to some of the players. For the rest of the action, you have to see this movie.

As for Steve Austin, all wrestling fans will remember him as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin of the WWE. I was surprised when I saw the opening credits that this movie was produced by WWE films also and turned out quite good.
